Making Change Worksheets for Teens and Adults
Work out the change after paying.
About this worksheet
An item costs a set amount and the student pays with a larger bill. How much comes back? These pages practice the subtraction behind every cash purchase.

What each level includes
- Level 1: Whole-dollar prices paid with a $5 or $10 bill.
- Level 2: Prices ending in 25, 50 or 75 cents.
- Level 3: Any price up to about $19, paid with a $20 bill.
Ideas for using it
- Model counting up from the price to the amount paid, the way a cashier does.
- Role-play a store after the sheet so students practice handing the change back.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Ads on the website pay for it. There is no sign-up, no email and no download limit, and the printed sheets never carry ads.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Open More print options and choose A4, or choose a country that uses A4.
Can I make copies for my class or program?
Yes. Print as many as you need for your students, residents or family. Please share the link rather than reposting the files online.
