Reading a Pay Stub Worksheets (Payslips)

Hours, gross pay, deductions and take-home pay.

About this worksheet

A practice pay stub with hours, hourly rate, gross pay, deductions and take-home pay. Choose a country and the deductions change to match: Social Security and Medicare in the US, CPP and EI in Canada, Income Tax and National Insurance in the UK, PAYG tax and super in Australia, and PAYE, USC and PRSI in Ireland. The amounts use simple made-up percentages, not real tax rates.

Example of the Reading a Pay Stub Worksheets (Payslips) printable, Level 2
Example page. Every click of New version makes a different one.

What each level includes

  • Level 1: Read the name, hours, pay date and take-home pay.
  • Level 2: Find gross pay, total deductions and the biggest deduction.
  • Level 3: Work out gross pay, total deductions and net pay yourself.

Ideas for using it

  • Start with the words: gross is before deductions, net is what you take home.
  • Compare the sheet with a real pay stub with the private details covered.

Questions

Are the tax amounts real?

No. Deductions use simple made-up percentages so the math is clear. They are not real tax rates and not tax advice.

Is it really free?

Yes. Ads on the website pay for it. There is no sign-up, no email and no download limit, and the printed sheets never carry ads.

Can I print on A4 paper?

Yes. Open More print options and choose A4, or choose a country that uses A4.

Can I make copies for my class or program?

Yes. Print as many as you need for your students, residents or family. Please share the link rather than reposting the files online.
